Jack Wilshere

The 26-year-old midfielder looked to be getting back to his best form of late, but now could face another spell on the sideline.

Jack Wilshere has picked up a fresh injury concern after limping off against Chelsea on Wednesday.

The Arsenal captain seemed to tweak his ankle slightly after successfully closing down a Cesar Azpilicueta cross, and had to be removed in the 57th minute of a Carabao Cup semi-final first leg.

The knock comes as a cruel blow to the oft-injured Wilshere, who has made seven consecutive league starts for the Gunners, playing all 90 minutes in each of those matches.

Wilshere has entered the final six months of his current deal at Emirates Stadium, and has expressed a desire to commit to fresh terms.

Arsene Wenger has promised that future talks will be held during the January transfer window, but the club has been slow to move, waiting on the midfielder to hit his peak form and fitness.
