LA Knight is fast becoming one of the most popular stars in WWE today with his popularity exploding in recent months.
With Knight coming up short in last week’s four-way Austin Theory invitational match to Rey Mysterio, fans had been worrying that Knight may not feature on the show in Detroit.
In an update from WRKD Wrestling ahead of tonight’s (July 28) episode of SmackDown, it seems as though Knight is set to appear in Detroit for the biggest party of the Summer.
WRKD Wrestling notes that LA Knight ‘looks towards SummerSlam’ on tonight’s show.
It is not known exactly what Knight’s role will be on the show, whether he takes part in a match or a segment, but those things will seemingly become more clear after tonight’s SmackDown.
Tonight’s show will feature the final match of the Austin Theory Invitational between Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar, with the winner earning a shot at Theory’s United States Championship.
The championship match between Theory and tonight’s winner is reportedly set for next week’s episode of SmackDown rather than SummerSlam itself.
