There was a title change in the second match of the night at WWE SummerSlam 2024 in Cleveland, Ohio tonight.

After Liv Morgan retained the Women’s World Championship against Rhea Ripley in the opener, the story wasn’t the same in the match that took place right after.
Bron Breakker has won his first WWE main roster championship.

Breakker scored the win against Sami Zayn to win the WWE Intercontinental Title at SummerSlam tonight, August 3.
The match was a rematch from Money in the Bank, which saw Zayn retain with a win against Breakker.

Sami Zayn had been champion since he ended the longest Intercontinental Championship reign of all time by beating GUNTHER at WrestleMania in early April, meaning Zayn’s reign will go down as 119 days.
Breakker has previously held the NXT Championship twice and also the NXT Tag Team Championship with Baron Corbin.
Prior to the match, Michael Cole listed off Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, British Bulldog and Steve Austin as the names who won their first Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam, so Breakker joins that list.
