At tonight’s WWE SummerSlam 2024 there was contempt during a match between Drew McIntyre and CM Punk with Seth Rollins as the referee.
With no love lost between the three top WWE stars, the match made for a dynamic environment to progress multiple stories.
Ahead of the match, the hotly anticipated debut of Seth Rollins’ referee attire was revealed to include plenty of pageantry.
While his referee attire was very impactful (you can see it below),
Seth Rollins would go on to prove to be an impactful referee as he provided very lenient rule keeping during the match, turning an eye to several big moves.
With Rollins encouraging McIntyre to “finish him off,” it would be Punk who would have Mcintyre primed for a GTS before he paused at seeing Rollins wearing the bracelet that Drew had stolen from CM Punk.
However as the pair exchanged words about the bracelet, Drew McIntyre flew in from behind, hitting Punk and knocking Rollins out of the ring.
Punk may have been able to hit the GTS, when he went for the pinfall cover, Rollins was outside the ring.
After a continued exchange, Punk would go on to hit a GTS on Rollins and snatch back his bracelet.
McIntyre would then hit Punk with a Claymore and shout for Rollins to make the count.
He struggled however after a relatively slow three count, Drew McIntyre did end up winning the match.
He also stole back the bracelet and also kisseed it as Punk had after getting it back. The drama between Punk. Rollins and McIntyre seems far from over.
