A backstage update has emerged on Seth Rollins abandoning the referee camera during Drew McIntyre vs CM Punk at SummerSlam.

At the beginning of the show, WWE debuted the ref cam, a camera attached to the referee’s ear to share the point of view of the official.
Seth Rollins later sported one of these cameras, with the Visionary serving as the special referee for CM Punk’s return match against Drew McIntyre.
This novelty was short lived however, with Rollins removing the camera during the match when the wires came loose.

Per Corey Brennan of Fightful, Rollins himself made the decision to take the camera off after the ref cam’s battery pack fell off.
Brennan noted that there is no heat on Rollins for his decision as this was “seen as a possibility beforehand”.

Drew McIntyre ultimately defeated CM Punk to win their one-on-one match.
The Scottish Warrior has already taken to social media to meme Punk following the bout.
