WWE have shared previously unseen footage from Seth Rollins’ referee camera, which he wore during the SummerSlam match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre.
The 37th annual SummerSlam event in Cleveland, OH saw the debut of the ref cam, a camera worn by officials in their ear in order to share their viewpoint of the action.
It’s unclear whether this will be something WWE revisits at future Premium Live Events, but its debut has at the very least provided some amusing footage from Seth Rollins’ perspective during the match between Punk and McIntyre.
In a video posted to WWE’s Twitter account (see below), it shows Rollins ignoring his duties as an official by allowing extreme leniency to Punk as he smashes McIntyre into the ring steps.
Rollins would also turn a blind eye to make sure his shoelaces were tied, rather than begin a ten count to both men on the outside.
While Rollins would have the camera in his ear for the early stages of the bout, he would later remove it – with it being revealed by Fightful’s Corey Brennan that this was due to the battery pack for the camera falling off.
It would also be reported that Rollins faced no backstage heat for removing the camera.
