At WWE Bash in Berlin on August 31, CM Punk defeated Drew McIntyre in a Strap Match and the reason for the win has now been revealed.

As can be seen in the highlights below this news story, Punk was able to use his wily ways to hit the top of each corner post, delivering multiple GTS’ on his opponent.
Dave Meltzer has now revealed the reason for the “massive win” on the WWE PLE on Wrestling Observer Radio, saying:

“Punk made him tap out, he gave him four GTS’, he touched all four corners without the other guy touching the corner behind him.
“The mentality was that Punk had not had a big win, he had been in the company since November and they just felt that he needed a massive win because he’s a massive star.
“They felt that Drew can handle it and Drew’s gonna get his heat back two days later.”

With the September 2 episode of WWE Raw seeing Punk try to move on from McIntyre, he called out World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.
Punk had teased a possible feud with World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER or Randy Orton depending on the result of the match at WWE Bash In Berlin.
An attack from a hooded figure would make it quite clear that McIntyre wasn’t done with Punk, however, vowing “it will never be over” between them.

McIntyre would go as far as reclaiming Punk’s beaded bracelet, tearing it apart and scattering the beads onto Punk before making him eat some for good measure, as can be seen below this news story.
Punk would be stretchered out and taken to an ambulance, but not before McIntyre could, once again, attack his fallen foe.
It was recently reported that Punk vs McIntyre could take place at WWE Bad Blood in October 2024 in a Hell in a Cell match.
