Bryan Danielson has commented on “stepping up” at AEW All Out.

At AEW All Out 2023, Bryan Danielson defeated Ricky Starks in a violent strap match that many viewed as the best of the entire event. However, this wasn’t originally the plan as Starks was reportedly scheduled to face CM Punk for the “Real” World Championship at the pay-per-view this past Sunday in Chicago.
Punk was involved in a backstage incident at AEW All In that ultimately led to his contract with the company being terminated on Saturday, September 2, one day before the show.
Danielson was announced as Starks’ opponent for AEW All Out on the September 2 edition of Collision just one night before the show.

Speaking at the AEW All Out press conference, Bryan Danielson was asked about stepping up in replacing Punk at the event. He replied:
“One of the ethics that I believe in is you step up when you need to step up.”
“It’s interesting when you’re crossing between real life and story, but we as the BCC [Blackpool Combat Club], as a collective, who are real friends, we take stepping up seriously, whether that is in story or real life.”
“Nobody is a better example of that than Jon Moxley, who has stepped up every time we’ve needed him to. I just see it as a way of life for us. ‘If you need us, if something needs to happen,Tony [Tony Khan], I can do this.'”
“Mox will say, ‘I can do this.’ There is nothing that Tony needs that we won’t do for him. That goes with creative, with doing the match [at All Out], anything like that.”

Elsewhere during the press conference, Danielson praised his opponent Ricky Starks for carrying him through this match with him returning for the first time in over two months after suffering a broken arm at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door.
