AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 takes place on June 30 in New York and the first match may have been revealed.
The next stop on the AEW pay-per-view calendar is the sixth Double or Nothing on May 26, 2024.
With Forbidden Door taking place around a month later, Dave Meltzer has revealed what may be the first match for the show.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer revealed a potential opponent for Jon Moxley, saying:
“I think there was some talk of [Tetsuya] Naito at Forbidden Door”
Moxley is the current IWGP World Heavyweight Champion having defeated Naito for the title at Windy City Riot on April 12, 2024, in Chicago.
At AEW Double or Nothing, Moxley teams with Bryan Danielson, FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) and Darby Allin as Team AEW takes on The Elite (Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson), Jack Perry & Kazuchika Okada in an Anarchy in the Arena match.
Speaking about his future as IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Moxley has said that “you won’t know where to classify” him in the history books.
In AEW, Moxley has is a three-time AEW World Champion and former International Champion.
