There has been a major update on AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone’s upcoming match at the Forbidden Door event.
Mercedes is set to take part in her first Forbidden Door event next weekend, when she defends her TBS Championship against CMLL star and current NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion Stephanie Vaquer.
The match was originally announced as title vs. title, provided that both Mercedes and Stephanie retained their titles in upcoming title matches.
Mercedes was victorious in her defence against Zeuxis on last week’s Dynamite show, with Vaquer defending the NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship against La Catalina at today’s CMLL x NJPW FantasticaMania Mexico show.
Stephanie did indeed retain her championship on the show against Catalina, officially confirming that her upcoming rematch with Mone will be title vs. title.
After the match, Mercedes made an appearance on the show, where she confronted Vaquer, promising to take her championship at Forbidden Door, before the two ended up brawling, with Mercedes briefly posing with both titles.
