An AEW star’s return match has been announced, with the former champion set to face off against his brother following months away from the ring.
Rey Fenix hasn’t wrestled since dropping the International Championship to Orange Cassidy on the October 10, 2023 edition of Dynamite.
Fenix has been recovering from an ‘old injury’ since then, with Fenix noting in January that while this had been his worst injury to deal with, he was recovering well.
Fenix’ real-life brother and AEW Lucha Brothers teammate Penta El Zero Miedo was in action at the March 2 HOG Reckoning event against Mike Santana.
Following the bout, Penta El Zero Miedo announced that he will face off against Rey Fenix at HOG La Casa De Gloria on May 5.
You can watch a clip of Penta making the announcement below.
Penta and Fenix have faced off a number times over the course of their careers, with Fenix notably defeating Penta in the first round of the 2020 AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament.
While Fenix’ current status is unclear, this announcement indicates that he’s expected to be cleared to compete by May.
We will continue to provide updates on Fenix as they become available.
