With former WWE star Trevor Lee (fka Cameron Grimes) soon to be a free agent, AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland has teased the possibility of a match between the pair.

Lee was one of a number of WWE releases on April 19, 2024, with his departure being considered ‘unexpected‘.
He has now revealed that he officially becomes a free agent in just one week according to a tweet dated July 15, 2024, with his 90 day non-compete clause set to come to an end.

AEW World Champion and fellow former WWE star Swerve Strickland would catch sight of the tweet, responding with:

Strickland and Lee last crossed paths in 2019 at a WWE NXT Live show, with Lee recently reflecting on the anniversary of his WWE NXT debut with the then Isiah ‘Swerve’ Scott.
They had worked a number of times on the independent circuit going as far back as CZW in 2012.
Lee signed with WWE in early 2019, changing his name to Cameron Grimes in June of that year.

He would go on to hold the WWE NXT North American Championship and be the final holder of the Million Dollar Championship.
Following his WWE release, he has discussed the power struggle between Triple H and Vince McMahon that impacted his career.
