Ahead of All In London, AEW star Mariah May has explained how Tony Khan helped her make the decision to sign with the company.
In November 2023, STARDOM standout Mariah May signed with All Elite Wrestling and made her debut with the promotion.
Upon her debut, May quickly aligned with Timeless Toni Storm with the duo being involved in a compelling storyline that saw Mariah as Storm’s protege.
May often helped Storm win and retain the AEW Women’s World Championship, but Mariah eventually turned on Timeless Toni after winning the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament in a bloody beatdown.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Mariah May discussed her storyline with Timeless Toni Storm. She said:
“Growing up as a wrestling fan, I was always attracted to the big storylines. You don’t really remember the matches, you just remember the moments, so I’ve always been really big on that.”
“The reason that I chose AEW was because Tony Khan came to me with this story, so it was like, ‘Okay, I’m not just being signed to a company because she’s got a bit of momentum or anything like that.’”
“It was like, we have a real plan for you, and it was something to sink my teeth into, and I’ve got to work really closely with RJ City, who’s such a talented writer, on this whole character and this whole story, and then when it came to the video package, I feel like they have ideas for me, and then it’s great because I can contribute my own thing and make it feel more me, but I do stab people in the head with shoes on a regular basis, so it was pretty easy to pull into,”
Mariah May will challenge Timeless Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship on Sunday, August 25 at AEW All In London.
