With an expiring contract, Daniel Garcia’s future in AEW is uncertain, particularly with WWE showing an interest in signing him.

Garcia has been absent from AEW television since All Out on September 7, 2024, where he faced MJF.
A week earlier, Tony Khan had addressed Garcia’s role in AEW saying he’s “here and he’s a great part of AEW.”
Recent reporting has stated that WWE is “chomping at the bit” to sign Garcia should he become a free agent.

Dave Meltzer has now shed light on AEW’s confidence in retaining Garcia during Wrestling Observer Radio, saying:
“I don’t think that they want to put him on TV until he makes the commitment.
“I would say that the surety or the strong confidence that he was signing, I wouldn’t say it’s as strong. But I wouldn’t say he’s leaving either, but it’s not as strong as it was a month ago. He may leave.”

With Garcia’s contract due to end later this year, AEW has announced him for three upcoming shows in October and November.
Recently, it was reported that WWE insiders felt that the offer made to Garcia, along with the deal signed by Swerve Strickland, were “bad for” professional wrestling with both being “far over what WWE would perceive the market value both to be.”
