Former ROH World Tag Team Champion Matt Taven of Undisputed Kingdom revealed the reason for Wardlow’s AEW absence.
At AEW Worlds End 2023, Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett and Wardlow formed the Undisputed Kingdom faction, capping off a long-term angle involving the then AEW World Champion MJF.
During the entire run, Cole has been recovering from a serious ankle injury. Meanwhile, Wardlow has not wrestled since AEW Big Business in March 2024.
Appearing on Stick to Wrestling Podcast, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett spoke about their AEW runs. Revealing that Wardlow is currently sidelined with a knee injury, Taven said:
“I mean, Wardlow’s out with a knee injury and as a guy with plenty of knee injuries in the past, they can be tricky.”
“You start to think they’re one thing and then you think they’re another and then you think, oh, I can get away with doing this or that and it seems to be more serious so, I think he’s just trying to figure out exactly what the best kind of treatment plan is to get him back on track with that knee.”
JJA Sport Studio will provide further updates on Wardlow’s AEW return as/when they become available.
Undisputed Kingdom last wrestled in a Buckhouse Brawl loss to Sammy Guevara and Dustin Rhodes for the ROH World Tag Team Championships, while Roderick Strong unsuccessfully challenged HOOK for the FTW Championship at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam.
