There was an unusual reason why an AEW star missed a match on tonight’s episode of Collision (April 13) and was replaced by another wrestler.

On tonight’s episode of AEW Collision, there was an unusual configuration for an existing trio however with a very unique reason.
In the first match of the night, the House of Black (Brody King, Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews) took on a new configuration for Top Flight.
The match featured Dante Martin and Action Andretti teaming with Matt Sydal with the actual third member of Top Flight conspicuously absent.

On commentary the absence was promptly explained that the reason that Darius Martin was missing from the match was that he was otherwise engaged in flying, taking his pilot’s license exam tonight.
Later when Dante Martin hit a big move off the top rope, Schiavone also speculated that Dante was flying as high as Darius as the pilot jokes were flying freely.

In the end, the House of Black did pick up the win.
Elsewhere to kick off tonight’s show, there was a change to the commentary team for the night as Nigel McGuinness was described as being ‘on assignment’.
