Following the July 20 episode, AEW composer Mikey Rukus has addressed the change to the AEW Collision theme song.
Since the premiere of the show in June 2023, AEW Collision’s opening theme song has been Elton John’s “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting.” The signature theme gave the show a different feel from the AEW Dynamite program that had an opening track made by AEW composer Mikey Rukus.
To kick off the July 20 edition of AEW Collision, the Elton John theme was absent and replaced by a new theme made by Rukus.
After fans commented on the change, Mikey Rukus took to social media to address this change. He wrote:
Hey guys. Its ok. I knew it would be universally hated. Theres no such thing as an upgrade from Elton. Change is inevitable. We tried something different with the college/gogo cadence. The July 20 episode of AEW Collision kicked the company’s “Path To All In Summer Series” from the ESports Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
