AEW Dynamite 22nd of November 2023

Among other matches, the AEW Continental Classic began. Jon Moxley faced Mark Briscoe, Swerve Strickland battled Jay Lethal, and RUSH took on Jay White. Plus, Orange Cassidy, HOOK, and Katsuyori Shibata faced Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, and Jake Hager.

AEW Continental Classic: Swerve Strickland vs. Jay Lethal
Strickland and Lethal feel each other out early on. Swerve sends Lethal to the outside. Lethal dives onto Strickland and gains the upper hand. Back in the ring, Lethal grounds Strickland. Swerve rallies and targets Lethal’s leg. Lethal takes control. Lethal drops Strickland with a shoulder-breaker. The match spills out of the ring, and Strickland briefly swings the momentum in his favor. They get back in the ring, and Lethal again grounds Strickland.
Swerve fires back with a superplex. He plants Lethal with a Flatliner and gets a two-count with a Brainbuster. Lethal gets a two-count with an inside cradle. Lethal floors Swerve with a reverse suplex. A diving elbow drop earns Lethal another two-count. Strickland wrenches Lethal in a Stretch Muffler. Lethal gets another two-count with a pin attempt. He drills Swerve with a pump kick. Strickland counters the Lethal Injection and nails him with the House Call. Swerve gets the win with the Swerve Stomp.
Winner: Swerve Strickland

Renee Paquette interviews Orange Cassidy, HOOK, and Katsuyori Shibata. Wheeler Yuta confronts Cassidy. He calls out Shibata and says seeing him walk around with the ROH Pure Championship makes him sick. He vows to take the title back.

In-Ring Segment: MJF and Adam Cole
MJF uses a cane to walk to the ring, while Cole is on crutches. MJF says there are some girls he’d like to get deep with, and he’s not talking about the pizza. He highlights his win over Jay White and says Jay is one of the best wrestlers in the world. MJF says nobody is on the level of The Devil. He calls himself the greatest AEW World Champion of all time. MJF says none of it would have been possible without his Bro-chacho, Adam Cole. Cole says he’s glad they still have the ROH World Tag Team Championships.
Cole says he is nowhere near ready to wrestle again, but he will work hard so he can return. Cole tells MJF he is worried about him, as the whole world is gunning for him. MJF vows to find The Devil and send him to hell. The Devil hacks into the feed and laughs. Samoa Joe comes out. Samoa Joe says they should be celebrating. He takes a shot at Cole for not being able to defend MJF. Joe makes it clear that he’s there to make sure MJF lives up to his deal to give him a world title shot. MJF says he thought about their deal, and he’s about to say no, but Joe grabs him.
Cole asks Joe to let him speak to MJF. Cole tells MJF that the new Max is a man of his word, and he tells him to be one. MJF says Joe wouldn’t be the first ROH legend he would beat in Chicago. MJF challenges Joe to face him. Joe turns him down, as he wants to face MJF when he’s 100%. He tells MJF that he should be ready to compete by AEW Worlds End. MJF agrees to face Samoa Joe at AEW Worlds End. Joe says he will always be a step behind MJF to make sure he makes it to AEW Worlds End. There, Joe said he would take the title from MJF.
Orange Cassidy, Katsuyori Shibata & HOOK vs. Matt Menard, Angelo Parker & Jake Hager
Cassidy heads to the outside and announces that he has a Thanksgiving surprise. Danhausen comes out. Despite the distraction, Menard, Parker, and Hager take control and isolate HOOK. They ground the FTW Champion. HOOK rallies and tags Cassidy, who clears house with a flurry of offense. Hager slams Cassidy. Shibata tags in and trades blows with Hager. Hager, Menard, and Parker gang up on Hager. Danhausen pulls out Hager’s hat and puts it on. Hager chases him, and Danhausen curses him. HOOK tags in. Shibara and HOOK lock Menard and Parker in stereo submissions. They trade, and both men tap out.
Winners: Orange Cassidy, Katsuyori Shibata & HOOK

Renee Paquette interviews Adam Cole and tells him she wishes him a speedy recovery. He says he can’t wait to return. Roderick Strong rolls up, alongside The Kingdom. Strong asks Cole why he wasn’t there for him. Cole says Strong is not his best friend anymore. He angrily tells Strong to leave him alone.

In-Ring Segment: Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne
Christian Cage comments on their loss at AEW Full Gear. He says he did not lose the match. Cage says that Luchasaurus lost the match. Cage describes how it’s time for Cage to recreate Luchasaurus and Wayne in his image, as they are his children. Luchasaurus reluctantly takes a knee. Cage says the name Luchasaurus is associated with being a loser, so his new name is his Killswitch. Cage tells Wayne he is special, and he is the son he never had before. He says Wayne is him, and he loves him. Nick Wayne’s mom Shayna comes out. Cage calls her a terrible mother.
Cage tells Nick’s mom she couldn’t give him anything. He says it’s a good thing his husband is dead, as Nick would have disowned him because he wasn’t nearly the man or the wrestler he is. Killswitch gets in Cage’s face. Cage tells him to get back on his knees. Christian slaps him and threatens to make him unmask. Christian shoves Killwitch into Shayna, and she goes down. Cage orders Nick to get a chair. Cage sets Shayna up for a con-chair-to. He gives the chair to Killswitch, and Adam Copeland makes the save. He drops Nick with a Spear. Cage escapes, and Copeland hits Nick with a con-chair-to.
Backstage, Matt Menard expressed his frustration after their loss. Jake Hager focuses on how Danhausen took his hat. Anna Jay says this is about her and her match. Jay says she is tired of losing, and she just wants to wrestle. Angelo Parker gets a call but tells Anna Jay he’ll be in her corner.

AEW Continental Classic: RUSH vs. Jay White
RUSH and Jay White battle for positioning early on. RUSH overpowers White and hits him with a dropkick. He drops White with a stiff chop at ringside. RUSH slams White into the barricade multiple times. He hits White with another chop. Back in the ring, RUSH and White trade chops. White gains the upper hand, but they keep battling. RUSH blasts White with a kick and strikes a pose. White dumps RUSH to the outside and slams him into a barricade. White drops RUSH with a neckbreaker. He suplexes RUSH into the corner.
RUSH rallies. He suplexes White and gets a two-count with a Brainbuster. White dodges a senton. He floors RUSH with a brainbuster. White and RUSH exchange blows. White slams RUSH for a two-count. They trade stiff chops. RUSH dumps White with a German suplex. White fires up, but White slams RUSH into a corner. RUSH nails White with an elbow strike. White hits RUSH below the belt and gets the win with the Bladerunner.

Footage of Big Bill and Ricky Starks attacking Chris Jericho backstage is shown. They slam a case of equipment into Jericho’s arm, seemingly taking him out in the process.

Toni Storm’s Championship Acceptance Speech
RJ City and Renee Paquette present Toni Storm with the AEW Women’s World Championship. She reacts like she won an Oscar. Storm comes to the stage, and Mariah May hands her the title. Storm gives a speech, as she thanks “Anthony Khan” and says nobody will take her spot. Skue Blue interrupts as she makes her entrance for her match.

Skye Blue vs. Anna Jay (with Matt Menard and Angelo Parker) vs. Ruby Soho (with Saraya)
The three competitors take the fight to each other. Blue and Jay kick Soho. Soho levels Jay with a forearm. She dumps Blue with a Saito suplex. Blue knocks Soho to the outside. Jay kicks Blue off the apron and wrenches her around the ring post. Jay grounds Blue. Soho takes control. Blue rallies. Soho slams her into the barricade. Soho drills Jay with a kick. Parker walks up to Soho. Saraya and Menard separate them. Jay gains the upper hand. Blue dives onto Jay and Soho. Jay counters the Code Blue.
Saraya argues with Menard. Blue drills Soho with a knee and kick. She sends Soho into Parker. Saraya separates them. Blue escapes the Queen-Slayter and slams Jay for the win.
Winner: Skye Blue

Renee Paquette asks Wardlow what he’s waiting for, and he says the downfall of The Devil will be on his time. AR Fox tries to give him advice, and Wardlow headbutts him.

AEW Continental Classic: Jon Moxley vs. Mark Briscoe
Moxley and Briscoe battle it out in the early going. Briscoe takes Moxley down with a neckbreaker onto the floor. Moxley sends Briscoe down to the floor with a boot. Moxley slams Briscoe onto the steeps. The former world champion keeps rolling with a superplex. Mark is busted wide open, and Moxley suplexes him. Moxley spikes Mark with a piledriver. Mark rallies with a flurry of offense.
Moxley and Briscoe battle on the top rope. Mark bites him, but Moxley catches Mark with a Paradigm Shift. Both men are down after a dropkick. Briscoe hits a Death Valley Driver and the Froggy Bow for a two-count. Mark goes for the Jay Driller, but Moxley hits him with a lariat. Moxley gets a near fall with the Death Rider. Moxley dumps Briscoe with a half-and-half suplex. The two competitors trade blows. Moxley stomps Briscoe and hits the Death Rider for the win.
