All Elite Wrestling is back again with another star-studded show with the August 30 episode of AEW Rampage.
Tonight, The Grizzled Young Veterans will be in action after appearing at AEW All In and making it clear that they were coming for the tag team titles. The duo appeared on the August 28 episode of AEW Dynamite and said that they were in AEW to stay. AEW announced that they would face The Outrunners on the August 30 episode of AEW Rampage.
Plus, Konosuke Takeshita will return to the AEW ring after he competed in the NJPW G1 Climax 34. He will face Komander, Lio Rush, and The Beast Mortos.
Match 1: Jeff Jarrett & Jay Lethal defeat Private Party and Matt Taven & Mike Bennett via submission
In a three-way tag team match to open the night, things got hectic from the beginning. Jarrett spent a good portion of the match clearing out nearly every competitor while Private Party hit a massive splash to nearly steal a win. However, things came to an end after Lethal and Jarrett locked The Kingdom in dual figure four leglocks. The Kingdom tried to get their way out of the hold, but ended up tapping out in unison to close things out.
Match 2: Mina Shirakawa defeats Missa Kate via pinfall
This one was incredibly short, and Mina spent most of the match dominating Kate, and scored multiple nearfalls early on. In the end, though, she hit a flurry of punches and strikes and then hit her finisher for the win.
Backstage segment: Stokely Hathaway and Kris Statlander
In a video backstage, Hathaway and Statlander called in a fan of Willow Nightingale’s from the production team. Stat then absolutely knocked them out with a punch. She said their friendship is done, and at AEW All Out, she’ll make sure to show Nightingale.
Match 3: Grizzled Young Veterans defeats The Outrunners via pinfall
The GYV spent most of the match trying to mock The Outrunners, but nearly let things slip early in the match after they dropped them in tandem and hit a big elbow drop. However, Grizzled Young Veterans regained momentum, and came out with a win after hitting the Doomsday Device and a massive tandem strike to win.
Match 4: Nyla Rose defeats Aminah Belmont via pinfall
This one was over in a matter of minutes. Rose immediately dominated Belmont and hit a chokeslam and Beast Bomb for the pin and win.
Match 5: Konosuke Takeshita defeats The Beast Mortos, Lio Rush, and Komander via pinfall
In this four-way match to close out the night, Takeshita walked out on top of an incredibly entertaining match. He and Mortos started things off by showboating against one another by beating up Rush and Komander, before eventually colliding in the ring as the fan’s cheered them on.
In the end, Takeshita hit a massive knee on Mortos and then followed it up with a Blue Thunder Bomb on Komander. He then hit a Falcon Arrow on the superstar for the pin and win.
