WWE has now shared a video of CM Punk confronting NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez following her match at NXT Battleground.
Perez competed in a major match at NXT Battleground, defending her gold against TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace.
The WWE star was ultimately victorious in this crossover match, reversing a Grace Driver into a cutter before dropping Grace with a Pop-Rox for the win.
Ahead of the closing moments of this match, Jordynne Grace was distracted by Tatum Paxley and TNA’s Ash By Elegance (fka Dana Brooke) fighting over Grace’s Knockouts Championship belt.
In a backstage interview shared by WWE, Roxanne Perez argued that there’s nobody like her, before CM Punk interrupted her to set the record straight.
After arguing that Perez is head and shoulders above the women on the NXT and TNA Wrestling rosters, Punk told the champion that got lucky during her match, advising her to be herself.
He said:
“Listen, you’re the champion for a reason. You’re head and shoulders above all these women here, you’re head and shoulders above all the TNA Knockouts, but tonight you got lucky.
“I need you to focus on this. I need you to be who you are, I need you to be The Prodigy. You don’t need anything else.”
Perez then told Punk that he was a hypocrite before walking off.
You can watch the video of this interaction below this news story.
CM Punk is currently recovering from a tricep injury he suffered in January’s Royal Rumble match.
With the former WWE Champion currently at odds with Drew McIntyre, it has been heavily speculated that Punk will appear at Clash at the Castle on June 15, where McIntyre will be challenging for Damian Priest’s World Heavyweight Title.
