The next challenger for GUNTHER’s WWE Intercontinental Championship has potentially been revealed, with a rising star targeting the Ring General.
Following months of helping the faction, JD McDonagh is now officially a member of the Judgment Day, with the group welcoming him in on the November 13 edition of Raw.
Speaking with Irish Wrestling & Entertainment, McDonagh noted that he is now focused on winning WWE gold.
Wanting to ensure that every member of the Judgment Day faction is holding a title, McDonagh said:
“Oh believe me, that hasn’t been lost on me and they all have mentioned it and I think that’s the next milestone for me.
“I wanna make sure everyone in the Judgement Day are dripped out with Gold.”
As of writing, McDonagh is the only member of the group without gold. Damian Priest currently holds both the Money in the Bank briefcase, and the WWE Tag Team Championship alongside Finn Balor.
Rhea Ripley is the reigning and defending Women’s World Champion, and Dominik Mysterio has the NXT North American Championship around his waist.
Discussing the possibility of a rematch against GUNTHER, McDonagh said:
“Listen, I know I’ve beaten WALTER but GUNTHER seems like a different animal, he’s another guy who’s leveled up again.
“But that would be an interesting one to test myself and see if I’m as good as I was then.”
McDonagh and GUNTHER have faced off in several promotions, with the duo trading the OTT World Championship during their competitive feud ahead of them both becoming full-time WWE stars.
The duo last faced off in April 2019 during NXT UK tapings that took place at WrestleMania Axxess 2019.
GUNTHER most recently defended his gold against The Miz at Survivor Series 2023.
