WWE Clash at the Castle sees the Intercontinental Championship on the line and it could factor into Chad Gable’s future.
The June 3 episode of WWE Raw saw Chad Gable vs Sami Zayn announced for the Clash at the Castle PLE that takes place on June 15.
As noted in our earlier reporting, Gable’s WWE contract seemingly expires on June 7, 2024, setting the upcoming match after that date.
It was also reported that there has been no official confirmation that Gable has signed a new deal.
Dave Meltzer has now provided further insight into the upcoming match and how it could factor into Gable’s future in WWE.
Speaking about the Alpha Academy leader’s contract and the title match on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer stated:
“I could see Gable winning, it would have to be tied to negotiations. I don’t see them putting the title on Gable with his contract expiring. And his contract is expiring and he hasn’t signed a new deal.
“That’s a good pressure, you know because we’re giving you the biggest push of your career, which they are right now. Obviously they don’t want him to leave, and he’s doing really great.
“So I think… there’s a good chance that may be the determining factor if he signs or doesn’t sign. They got both ways they could go.
“I would put the odds relatively small of the idea that he would leave.”
Gable is currently focused on winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship and has taken out his frustrations on the other members of Alpha Academy.
Recent events have seen him insult Maxxine Dupri, threaten to beat Otis with a belt and belittle Akira Tozawa.
