A new update has emerged on former Universal Champion Kevin Owens’ WWE status, amid negotiations for a new contract.
With Kevin Owens recently confirming that his WWE contract expires in early 2025, previous reports indicated that “communication has been made” between the two sides about a potential new deal.
WrestleVotes has now revealed on Sportskeeda’s Backstage Pass that they received a “positive response” that Owens’ new WWE deal is either very close to being completed, or has been agreed upon.
WrestleVotes noted:
“I did reach out and talked to a couple of people. (I) didn’t get a definitive one way or the other, an absolute (that) the deal has been signed, but (I) did get a positive response that it’s very close if not completed with a handshake. So I’d imagine he’s around for the long term now.”
Owens is currently factored into a major storyline, with the Prizefighter attacking WWE Champion Cody Rhodes after Bad Blood went off the air.
The popular star has since attacked Randy Orton, with cameras finding the duo during last week’s SmackDown episode.
