Drew McIntyre returned on WWE SmackDown after “quitting” the company days earlier, and attacked CM Punk tonight in Chicago.

After earlier in the show CM Punk was interrupted mid-promo about McIntyre by Paul Heyman, there actually hadn’t been a confirmation regarding Punk’s medical clearance.
Although perhaps Punk isn’t quite ready to return to in-ring action as it seems that he was immediately spun back into an injury, at least in storyline.
While there was a backstage interview segment featuring Kayla Braxton beginning to talk to Grayson Waller, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, they were interrupted by loud banging on the garage door next to them.
Fans would be forgiven to be concerned it could be a SmackDown appearance from Wyatt Sicks (as on-screen the ‘increased security presence’ due to their violence has already been noted), but it wasn’t them.

As the door rolled up, it was Drew McIntyre standing over a bloodied CM Punk.
McIntyre picked Punk up on his shoulders and carried him to the entrance where he unceremoniously dropped him.
After Nick Aldis appeared and pushed McIntyre, Drew shoved the SmackDown GM back and the two screamed at each other, and whatever they said had to be muted on TV.

CM Punk, still down and out beneath them, was shown being put on a stretcher as the show went to commercial.
When the show returned he was loaded onto an ambulance which drove away as Nick Aldis was shown telling security to be sure that Drew McIntyre was out of the building.
