Sting’s upcoming retirement match at AEW Revolution is likely to feature The Young Bucks and it’s all The Icon’s choice.

It was recently reported that Tony Khan is intent on giving Sting “whatever he wants in the build-up” to his retirement match.
In the current Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has revealed the control Sting has over his retirement booking, writing:

“Tony Khan was going to give Sting the option to pick whoever he wanted to face, and that would include pretty much anyone on the AEW roster or most other rosters besides WWE since Khan would have given him any match he wanted that involved talent he could have access to.
“When he was asked who he wanted to face, they were his choice, as he loved doing the Forbidden Door 2022 match in Chicago.”

At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in June 2022, the Dudes with Attitude (Sting, Darby Allin & Shingo Takagi) defeated Bullet Club (El Phantasmo & The Young Bucks (with Hikuleo).
It was recently stated that the teased Allin & Sting vs The Young Bucks is “actively the plan” with Matt & Nick Jackson having recently made their first appearance since AEW Full Gear.
In preparation for the retirement match, AEW Music revealed that they are releasing the Sting Era’s EP featuring music from across his career.

Sting was recently awarded the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Stanley Weston Award for Lifetime Achievement, the most prestigious honor awarded by PWI.
The WWE Hall of Famer had previously revealed that he planned to retire earlier than AEW Revolution until it was revealed Ric Flair would be involved in the story.
Flair would be the “special gift” from Tony Khan to Sting and was presented to him in October 2023 on AEW Dynamite.
