An AEW star has recalled a never-seen match with a former WWE Champion as one that meant “a lot” to both men.

Speaking to Metro UK, Blackpool Combat Club member Claudio Castagnoli recalled a special time he got to face-off with former tag team partner Sheamus in Japan.
Sadly the match was not televised, however, despite that, it still holds a special place in the former ROH Champion’s heart.

Castagnoli recalled:
“There’s been matches that I had on non-televised events. There was one with Sheamus in Japan, a match nobody will ever see.
“But it means a lot to me and him.”

While Sheamus and Castagnoli enjoyed their fair share of matches against one another, they are forever associated together more so for their time teaming together as The Bar.
The Bar enjoyed a massively successful run as a team from 2016-2019, winning the Raw Tag Team Championships on four separate occasions and the SmackDown Tag Team Championships once.
While Sheamus remains in WWE to this day, his contract is set to expire in 2024 according to reports.

His last appearance on WWE TV was his match with Adam Copeland (Edge) on the August 18 edition of SmackDown.
Stay tuned to JJA Sport Studio for any updates on Sheamus’ contract and/or his return to TV as they become available.
