An update has emerged on former AEW World Champion MJF amid his absence from the ring following his title loss.

The popular star hasn’t appeared for AEW since dropping the AEW World Title to Samoa Joe at the December 2023 Worlds End pay-per-view.
With Adam Cole revealing that he had been the devil who had haunted MJF in the months prior, it has been heavily speculated that a MJF vs Adam Cole match will take place once both stars are healthy.
Following his Worlds End appearance, it was reported that the former world champion would be taking some time away from the ring to recover from a legitimate shoulder injury.
Per a new report from the WrestlePurists, sources have confirmed that MJF has undergone surgery on his left shoulder.

The report noted that MJF was initially aiming for a return in March.
MJF reportedly met with Tony Khan in Boston to discuss creative plans.
MJF and Adam Cole’s injuries have reportedly affected creative plans dramatically, with MJF reportedly looking to wrap up the program between himself and the Undisputed Kingdom.

Cole suffered a major ankle injury after performing a dive during MJF’s AEW World Title match against Samoa Joe on the September 20, 2023 edition of Dynamite.
While he also hasn’t returned to the ring yet, he did appear at the recent Dynasty pay-per-view, walking unaided.
