A update has emerged on GUNTHER’s Intercontinental Championship reign, as the star closes in on a major record.
Besides Roman Reigns, GUNTHER has been presented as WWE’s most dominant champion, following his Intercontinental Title win in June 2022.
With GUNTHER approaching a year as champion, it has been heavily speculated that he will hold the title long enough to break the Honky Tonk Man’s record 454-day reign.
Per WRKD Wrestling, there have been internal discussions about GUNTHER breaking this record and having the longest single reign with the Intercontinental Championship.
WRKD Wrestling tweeted:

WWE currently touts GUNTHER as the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of the 21st century.
GUNTHER actually has the longest Intercontinental Title reign since the Honky Tonk Man’s record reign in 1987-1988, with only Pedro Morales, Don Muraco and Randy Savage having longer reigns than GUNTHER’s before 1987.
