Mustafa Ali announced earlier on Twitter that he’s no longer working with WWE.

He tweeted: “I am longer working with WWE. I look forward to the future. Thank you, -Adeel”, which he then corrected to “No longer*. Sorry for the confusion.”
In an update, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reports that he’s been told by WWE that Ali’s departure isn’t part of any broader talent cuts.

Sapp wrote:
I’m told by WWE that Mustafa Ali saying he’s no longer working with WWE is not due to any broader talent cuts.

Other than that, there are currently no details on the specifics of the reason for his departure but we’ll keep you updated as news emerges.
Ali had requested his release from WWE in May 2022, but the request wasn’t granted at the time.
He was set to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Championship at NXT No Mercy on September 30.

However, it was announced on the main roster that Dragon Lee would challenge Mysterio for the title on the September 25 episode of Raw, even though Ali had beaten Lee in a #1 contender match.
In a bit of a similar situation, Mysterio winning the title in the first place on July 18, obviously a decision that came from above NXT creative, led to a planned singles match between Ali and Wes Lee having to change as well.
As noted, we’ll keep you posted with any further updates as they emerge.
