Four-time WWE World Champion Alberto Del Rio has once again claimed that he has been in talks for a return to the company, after similar rumors were squashed a year ago.

In late 2022, Del Rio claimed he had discussions with former WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis regarding a return, over six years on from his exit in September 2016.
A that time, Fightful Select would quickly quash those rumors with a WWE higher-up stating there was “no f**king way” that Del Rio would be brought back.

However, despite that  debunked, it seems that Del Rio has once again been claiming that he was planned for a return to WWE according to Dave Meltzer’s latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Meltzer mentioned in the newsletter that Del Rio claimed the talks came prior to Vince McMahon’s ‘retirement’ from the company in July 2022.

Yet again, these claims seem to be unfounded as Fightful Select has once again clarified the situation with a WWE higher-up, who has this time said there was “no f**king chance”.
Del Rio, who has wrestled as Alberto El Patron since his WWE departure, most regularly competes in Mexico’s AAA promotion, last competing in a tag team match on October 1 that also featured AEW star QT Marshall.
