Happy holidays, folks. All Elite Wrestling delivered an action-packed show with the December 29 episode of AEW Rampage.
Tonight, the night before AEW Worlds End, Wheeler Yuta will defend the ROH Pure Championship against Matt Sydal. Plus, Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, and Rocky Romero will clash with Top Flight (Dante and Darius Martin) and Action Andretti.
Additionally, Ruby Soho will face Marina Shafir, and fans will hear from Chris Jericho.
The results are as follows:
In-ring segment: Chris Jericho
The night opened up with Jericho coming down to the ring to talk about his 8-man tag team match at Worlds End. He then moved on to the return of Sammy Guevara, who he promptly called down to the ring to talk to. Out came Guevara, and the pair talked for a moment, with Guevara noting that he feels like Jericho was always holding him back from achieving more, when he really should’ve just been pointing the finger at himself.
Jericho said he’s always believed in Sammy, and that after Worlds End, Jericho wants him to be his partner for a guaranteed shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Guevara accepts, and the pair hugged it out as the crowd cheered.
Match 1: Ruby Soho defeats Marina Shafir via pinfall
Soho made relatively short work of her opponent thanks to some shenanigans at ringside. With Saraya and Harley Cameron and Nyla Rose all at ringside, things got pretty hectic fast, as Nyla and Saraya got into a brawl that led through the crowd.
This led Cameron as the only superstar left at ringside, and she promptly began distracting Shafir, which let Soho roll her up for the pin and win.
Match 2: Wheeler Yuta defeats Matt Sydal via pinfall
Yuta retained his ROH Pure Championship in stellar fashion, earning a relatively quick win against Sydal. After the match, Danhausen showed up, and said he was a ROH legend and would be a judge for the match, and then disqualified Yuta for being a “cheater.” Wheeler simply responded by going at Danhausen, which caused HOOK to come out to help clear the ring.
Match 3: Action Andretti & Top Flight defeat ORange Cassidy, Rockey Romero & Trent Beretta via pinfall
The final match of the night saw Action Andretti and his team come away with a win. The bout came to a close with Orange Cassidy hitting Darius with the Orange Punch, but then Dante Martin caught Romero out of mid-air and hit his finisher for the pin and win.
