The new head writer for WWE SmackDown has been revealed following this week’s heavily praised episode of the show.

This week’s episode of WWE SmackDown has been considered among one of the best episodes of the show all year, and it reportedly saw a major backstage change that was made ahead of the show.
Per Fightful Select, long-time WWE creative writer John Swikata has now been promoted in his role, and will serve as the lead writer on WWE SmackDown, as of earlier this week.

Switaka is replacing Ryan Callahan in the role, who Fightful was told has parted ways with the company.
There is not much known about Switaka that is publicly available, other than him being listed as a senior writer with the company, though Fightful was told that he has been with the company for years.

One source within WWE noted that Switaka has already made a ‘huge impact’, pointing to the direction seen on this week’s episode of the show.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates.
