Chad Gable has broken his silence on his Gauntlet match loss, with Gable losing out the opportunity to face Gunther at WWE WrestleMania 40.
With a five-man gauntlet match to determine the Intercontinental Title challenger at WrestleMania, many people, including WWE star Cody Rhodes, pushed for Chad Gable to win the bout.
Gable ultimately came up short in the match, entering last before losing the final leg of the Gauntlet match against Sami Zayn, who had previously eliminated Bronson Reed and Shinsuke Nakamura.
While the show ended with Gable showing Zayn respect in the ring, many fans have taken to social media to criticise the result, with a new #WeWantGable hashtag emerging.
WWE has now shared a five minute video featuring Chad Gable’s post-match interview.
You can watch the full video below.
In the video, Gable stated that the phrase ‘coming up short’ has been associated with a lot of his WWE singles career.
The popular star noted that he felt like he let a lot of people down, admitting that him chasing Gunther and the Intercontinental Championship has been a personal battle.
He refused to share what Sami Zayn said to him after the match, noting that he was more interested in getting out of the ring than hearing what Zayn had to say to him.
While he was okay showing Zayn respect, Gable doesn’t believe this opportunity means as much to Zayn as it would’ve meant to him.
The interview ended with Chad Gable admitting that he doesn’t know what’s next for him, noting that as the foundation of his family, he’s going to have to return home being wobblier than he was before.
WWE has officially confirmed that Sami Zayn will challenge for GUNTHER’s Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 40, with the company sharing an official graphic for this match.
