A current NXT star has reacted to comment that AEW’s Britt Baker made about WWE’s hiring process and the Performance Center.

It’s very important to set out that Baker’s comments were made in a 2021 Washington Post interview when WWE had declared it would be focusing on hiring collegiate athletes for developmental rather than indie wrestlers.

The comment has been re-circulating on Twitter for the past day or so, most of the time clipped out of context, specifically the following quote:
“I don’t think putting a bunch of models and athletes off the street in a warehouse and teaching them all to do the same thing the same way at the same time is going to create a successful roster.”

Baker has addressed the quote and context surrounding it since it resurfaced, but that didn’t stop NXT’s Izzi Dame from responding with a comment of her own, as she tweeted:

Dame, real name Franki Strefling, signed with WWE in 2022 with a background in volleyball.
She has worked a few matches at house shows but was only recently given her ring name and debuted on NXT Level Up on July 18, and has yet to debut on NXT TV proper (excluding the background appearances all the trainees make before they officially debut – generic Chase U students and stuff like that).
