An update has emerged on AEW star Kota Ibushi’s injury status, with the Japanese star set to undergo surgery.

Ibushi was taken to hospital after appearing to suffer injuries to both ankles during his match against Naomichi Marufuji at the January 2 Pro Wrestling NOAH The New Year 2024 show.
It was later revealed that on his right ankle, Ibushi had sustained a tibiofibular ligament tear and a lateral ligament complex.
Ibushi had previously indicated that he was set to have surgery.
The AEW name has now taken to Twitter to share a photo of himself in hospital, which you can view below.

Ibushi revealed that he’s set to have surgery on Wednesday (January 16), writing the following on Tuesday:
Long time no see. It feels unusually long. Things won’t go on as before. I hope tomorrow’s surgery is successful. As long as I can walk, that’s enough. I don’t need anything else.
(Translated from Japanese)

Ibushi signed with AEW in November 2023, after making a number of appearances for the company.
Ibushi last wrestled for AEW on the November 15 edition of Dynamite, teaming with Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho and Paul Wight to score a victory over Brian Cage, Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher and Powerhouse Hobbs in a Street Fight.
We wish Ibushi a safe and healthy recovery.
