AEW World Champion Samoa Joe has revealed a special addition made to the AEW World Title for his current reign.

At AEW Worlds End, Samoa Joe defeated MJF to win the AEW World Championship in the main event.
During the post-show media scrum, Joe revealed that he would be replacing MJF’s Triple B belt with his new version of the AEW World Title.
On the January 10 Homecoming edition of AEW Dynamite, Joe came out to reveal the new belt and stated a brand new championship protocol under his reign.

In a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Samoa Joe discussed the new world title belt and why it was made for his reign. On the name plate being added to the new belt, Joe said:
“That was done on my behalf, and it is a wonderful piece of gold from the Khan family. It’s not going anywhere for a long time, so we’re letting everyone know who the champion is.”
“It’s my championship belt under my reign, so it needed to reflect my values. The belt was very fancy looking before.”
“My belt belongs among kings and queens, not looking like it’s going to be paraded around the Hamptons on the weekend.”

Samoa Joe will defend the AEW World Championship against FTW Champion HOOK on the January 17 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Also announced on the show, Christian Cage will defend the TNT Title against Dustin Rhodes and Mogul Embassy will defend the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championships against Bullet Club Gold’s Jay White and The Gunns.
