Following his huge title victory, new NJPW World TV Champion Jeff Cobb says he “chose” not to join AEW.

At NJPW Wrestling Dontaku 2024 Night One, Jeff Cobb defeated Zack Sabre Jr. to win the NJPW World TV Championship.
This win marked the first championship win for Cobb in New Japan Pro Wrestling since 2019.

Following his win, Jeff Cobb spoke with the media backstage about his title win and discussed the current state of champions in NJPW. He said:
“I hate Shota, but what he said was right. If you’re a champion for NJPW, show your ass up to the tours, don’t just come for the big shows.”
“Why can’t you come? Because you’re sitting on fat contracts in America. Well fuck you. I could’ve gone to AEW, I chose not to because I chose to represent NJPW.”

Also at NJPW Wrestling Dontaku, Nic Nemeth successfully defended the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship in a win over Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event.
