Following his IWGP World Heavyweight Title Eliminator, AEW star Konosuke Takeshita has been announced for the NJPW G1 Climax 34.

At AEW Double Or Nothing 2024, Jon Moxley defeated Konosuke Takeshita in an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship Eliminator Match.
Ahead of the bout, various reports indicated that the match was not an official title bout due to Takeshita being a wrestler for rival Japanese promotion, DDT Pro. However, it seems like the AEW star’s association with DDT did not prevent him from entering the top tournament in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
At the June 16 NJPW Soul event, New Japan announced the lineup for the G1 Climax 34 tournament. Representing AEW, Konosuke Takeshita was announced for the B Block of the round robin tournament.

Alongside names like David Finlay, Yota Tsuji, Jeff Cobb and more, Takeshita will compete in the 20-men two block tournament that is set to begin on July 20 and 21. The post reads:

Meanwhile, the A Block of the tournament will feature stars such as Tetsuya Naito, Shota Umino, Zack Sabre Jr. and more. The post reads:

There will also be a play-in tournament to determine the final entrant in each block with the lineup including Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tomohiro Ishii and more. The post reads:

The winner of the G1 Climax 34 tournament will move on to face the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 19 on January 4, 2025.
