AEW’s Bryan Danielson has planned for 2024 to be his final year as a full-time wrestler as he heads into the Owen Hart Foundation tournament.

On the June 5 episode of AEW Dynamite, Danielson reflected upon his time in AEW, noting that he hadn’t won any of the marquee matches he had been in.
At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, Danielson faces Shingo Takagi in the first round match of the 2024 Men’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament.

Addressing Danielson’s current AEW storyline in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated:
“The Bryan Danielson storyline is expected to have a major turnaround as he closes in on retirement with the idea of regrouping from the losses earlier in the year.”

Ahead of the June 30 PPV match, Danielson opened up about his opponent and the journey to AEW All In at Wembley Stadium in London where the tournament finale will be held.
He would also reveal that he is “tired of losing” and “tired of disappointing” the fans, his family and himself.
Zack Sabre Jr, having lost to Danielson at AEW WrestleDream in October 2023, has stated they have ‘unfinished business‘.

At AEW Dynamite Beach Break on July 3, the winner of Danielson vs Takagi will go on to face PAC in the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament Semi-Final.
As previously reported, the return of the AEW Dynamite Beach Break special coincides with TBS’ Shark Week.
