Matthew Jackson has compared Kenny Omega and Will Ospreay naming the one who is the “best in-ring wrestler on the planet.”

While Kenny Omega is sidelined following surgery, Ospreay recently joined The Don Callis Family’s Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher to take on The Elite (The Young Bucks & Kazuchika Okada), with highlights below this news story.
This came about after Ospreay and Fletcher became the number one contenders for the AEW World Tag Team Championship on the September 11 episode of Dynamite.

Speaking to Justin Barrasso for Undisputed, Matthew Jackson spoke about Omega and Ospreay, saying:
“They’re both very alike. They’ve both got that sudden explosiveness that most athletes don’t have. It’s scary because they’ll hit you with something but before you can even react to it, they’ve already got you locked up in the next move–and you’re about to go for a ride.”

The focus would then turn to Ospreay, with Jackson going on to discuss their history together, stating:
“When we first met Will many years ago, we called him a wrestling prodigy.
“He was young and inexperienced but so far ahead of everybody else. And it all came so easy to him.
“We’d whisper to each other about how he was probably going to end up being the best wrestler in the world one day, but how we couldn’t let him know that because we didn’t want that to go to a young man’s developing brain. We didn’t want to feed his ego [laughs].
“Now, all these years later, and he’s clearly the best in-ring wrestler on the planet. And I’m not sure it’s even close.”

Ospreay first encountered the Young Bucks in a PWG ring at Battle of Los Angeles 2016, teaming with Matt Sydal and Ricochet to take on Mount Rushmore 2.0 (Adam Cole, Matt & Nick Jackson).
Their paths would cross again later that year in NJPW as the Bullet Club took on CHAOS with their rivalry turning global through appearances at WCPW and OTT.
It would continue in 2022 with the arrival of Will Ospreay in AEW leading to an AEW World Trios Championship Tournament Semi-Final Match in August of that year.

Since his AEW debut, Ospreay has held the AEW International Championship twice and is currently on his second reign.
Omega is a former AEW World Champion, AEW World Tag Team Champion (with Adam Page) and a former two-time AEW World Trios Champion (with The Young Bucks).
To date, Omega is also the only AEW Triple Crown Champion in the company’s history.
