AEW World Champion MJF made a surprise return to the independent scene this weekend, competing for Create A Pro Wrestling.

MJF surprised fans in attendance at the May 14 Create A Pro Homecoming event, facing off against Leo Sparrow in singles action.
You can watch MJF’s entrance below, with the top star showing off the AEW World Championship belt. The full match video can also be found below.
MJF notably made his in-ring debut for Create A Pro in early 2015, following training with Brian Myers and Pat Buck.

Buck notably works for AEW as the VP of Talent Development, in addition to co-owning and coaching for Create A Pro.
This marked MJF’s first non-AEW match since his MLW and Jericho Cruise appearances in January 2020.
MJF matches only happen occasionally even in AEW, with the world champion only wrestling three AEW matches in 2023 so far.

He most recently stepped into the ring to team with Sammy Guevara to face off against Jack Perry & Darby Allin.
These four stars will compete in a fourway bout for the AEW World Title at Double or Nothing on May 28.
