WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley has recently opened up about a recurring knee injury that she deals with during her matches.
It had previously been reported that Ripley’s knee had “dislocated” during the Women’s Royal Rumble match in January 2023.
In the post-show press conference, Ripley would discuss the issue with her knee, saying:
“I’m obviously beat up. My knees aren’t very good in general. My knee did dislocate for a second, and then it went back in.”
Ripley would go on to win the Women’s Royal Rumble match having entered in the number one spot.
In a recent appearance on Greg & The Morning Buzz, the Judgment Day member opened up about her knee issue and, in particular, her match against Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39, saying:
“No, my knee didn’t pop out. What happened to me? Something happened. I can’t remember what it was. It might have been my knee.
“My knee always pops out, it’s just a reoccurring thing for me. I can never remember which matches it actually does it in.”
Ripley defeated Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39 on April 1 to become the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion.
Following the win, Ripley made history by being the first WWE star to have held the NXT UK Women’s Championship, the NXT Women’s Championship, the Raw Women’s Championship, the WWE Women’s Championship and the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
This achievement made Rhea Ripley the fifth Women’s Grand Slam Champion, but the first to achieve that with an NXT UK Champion added to the catalogue of championships.
At WWE Night of Champions, Ripley defeated Natalya to retain the SmackDown Women’s Championship with help from Dominik Mysterio.
Mysterio would celebrate with Ripley after the match in Saudi Arabia, footage of which can be seen below this news story.
