A big update has emerged on Gable Steveson, with the Olympic gold medalist pulled from a notable event.

Following reports indicating that Steveson is focusing on amateur wrestling career following his WWE in-ring debut, it was announced that Steveson was set to compete at the amateur freestyle wrestling 2023 World Championships, which take place September 16-24.
USA Wrestling has now revealed that Steveson has informed them that he will not be competing at these World Championships.
Steveson will be replaced by Mason Parris, who Steveson previously defeated in April at the US Men’s Freestyle Open.
No reason was given for Steveson pulling out of the World Championships.

September’s 2023 World Championship is a key event in the lead-up to the 2024 Olympic Games, as it marks the initial phase of the six qualifying events for next year’s event.
Steveson previously stated that he has aspirations to compete at the Paris Olympic Games, after winning a gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
It was previously reported that WWE would have to give permission for Steveson to compete at the 2023 World Championships as he’s a contracted talent.

This has fuelled speculation that Steveson will be returning to the WWE ring soon, following his pro-wrestling debut against Baron Corbin at the July 30 NXT Great American Bash show.
We will continue to provide updates on the situation as they become available.
