Former NXT Women’s Champion Kairi Sane made her return to WWE at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia, when she aided IYO SKY in her WWE Women’s Championship defence against Bianca Belair.

On last week’s SmackDown, Kairi was officially added to Damage CTRL, with IYO and Dakota Kai welcoming her into the group, and Kairi forgiving Bayley for her attack on her back in 2020.
Reports of Kairi returning to the company emerged as far back as August, but her plans were seemingly only locked in as of a few days before her return.
Speaking on her Twitch stream, Dakota was asked when she found out that Kairi would be returning to the company and joining Damage CTRL.

She said:
“Not that long. Not that long at all. Almost as though we found out the day before. There’s a lot of stuff that we don’t find out until the day of. I was so happy. I met IYO and Kairi almost ten years ago, my first tour of Japan in 2013/2014. It was right when my tour was ending. We hung out and went to dinner. Kairi is a sweetheart. She’s also deadly. You do not want to cross her.”

Asuka also joined up with Damage CTRL in the main event of last week’s SmackDown, turning on partners Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair.
