There are reportedly plans in place for the WWE return of Rey Mysterio who is currently injured and expected to miss 6-8 weeks.

The November 10 episode of WWE SmackDown saw Santos Escobar betray Rey Mysterio, driving a wedge into the LWO, highlights of which can be seen below.
Mysterio has been working with a torn meniscus for “around three months” according to a recent report.
He has recently undergone knee surgery and confirmed that the surgery was a success in a social media post.

With Mysterio expected to be out of action for up to eight weeks, Dave Meltzer addressed return plans on Wrestling Observer Radio, saying:
“The idea is it’s gonna be group vs group. It’s gonna be Santos with partners against Rey with partners.
“I don’t know what they’re going to do with the LWO name, which side gets it. Maybe they’re gonna feud over the name even, I don’t know.
“But it’s gonna be a group vs group thing, and obviously Carlito will be with Rey, and Santos will be with, at least right now, Cruz and Joaquin. I don’t know where Zelina’s going. So that’s the situation there.”

Santos Escobar had a savage response to the news that Mysterio would be out for up to eight weeks.
The heel turn for Escobar was said to have always been the plan regardless of Mysterio taking time out for surgery.
Mysterio recently lost the United States Championship at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia in a match that saw Logan Paul “save” the WWE Hall of Famer during a dubious spot.

Paul has since reflected on the moment, believing that he “almost killed” Mysterio due to his ring positioning at the time, but was happy to take credit for recovering and saving him.
We’ll keep you posted with any more updates on Mysterio’s recovery.
