It was recently reported that former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley’s contract with WWE was set to expire soon, with him recently being removed from the company’s internal roster.
WWE had reportedly sent Lashley a contract offer, with him said to be leaning towards leaving the company, with reports that he and MVP had discussed reforming the Hurt Business, potentially in AEW.
In an update on Lashley’s status from Fightful Select (subscription required), industry sources have told Fightful that Lashley’s deal is set to be up this weekend, with MVP’s contract having already expired.
Those within WWE that Fightful spoke to during SummerSlam weekend were under the impression that Lashley would be leaving the company, and that there were no creative plans for him in WWE moving forward.
Fightful notes that Lashley has been discussed backstage in AEW since word of his contract status emerged, but no offer has been made to Lashley as of yet.
Lashley is also said to have interest from the fighting world, and in Japan, with those close to him believing he will make at least an appearance in AEW, and say he’s ready to return to television.
