Updates have emerged on several projects The Rock is working on away from the ring, amid speculation about his WWE return.
After The Rock returned to the ring at WrestleMania 40, the Final Boss announced a WWE hiatus on the April 8 Raw episode.
With The Rock also teasing that he’ll eventually come back to face Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes during this appearance, there has been a lot of rumors swirling about Dwayne Johnson’s eventual in-ring comeback.
It was previously known that The Rock has been working on the films The Smashing Machine and Moana 2 during his WWE absence, the latter of which we got an update on during the Disney Entertainment Showcase panel at the D23 expo on August 9.
The Rock took to the stage to dance with the performers and promote the movie, which is set for a November release. The former WWE Champion will reprise his role as Maui in Moana 2, after playing this role in the original 2016 movie
You can watch a clip of The Rock dancing, and the official trailer for Moana 2, below.
The Rock also announced a new project during this entertainment showcase, revealing that he has been working on a new movie called Monster Jam about monster trucks.
The Final Boss told the audience at the panel:
“I love motorsports, I love monster trucks. I came to (Disney co-chair Alan Bergman) and Disney to create something here that is immersive and fun and live-action.
“From the POV of these incredible monster trucks. Eccentric and crazy drivers. Monster Jam is going to be a fun ride.”
It is currently unclear when The Rock will return to WWE TV.
Cody Rhodes recently called out the Final Boss, which you can read more about right here.
