There has been an update on a top WWE star’s return to television after being reported for this week’s episode of SmackDown.
Former WWE Champion AJ Styles has not appeared on WWE television since the Clash at the Castle event in Glasgow, where he was defeated by Cody Rhodes in an I Quit match.
AJ would then go on to compete in Pro Wrestling NOAH against the legendary Naomichi Marufuji, with being reported earlier this week that AJ was slated for last night’s episode of SmackDown in Tulsa.
While AJ ultimately did not return on last night’s show, there has been an update on his planned return to television.
Per PWInsider Elite (via Rajah), AJ was originally scheduled for last night’s SmackDown taping in Tulsa, though he did not end up being in attendance.
PWInsider was told that AJ is still slated to return to WWE television and storylines before the Bash In Berlin event on August 31, but the decision was made that, as creative plans locked in for last night’s show, it was not the right week to do his return.
However, PWInsider was told that the plan is still that he will be back shortly.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates on AJ Styles’ potential return as they emerge.
