All Elite Wrestling delivered an action-packed show with the January 26 episode of AEW Rampage.
Tonight, days before they defend their gold against Sting and Darby Allin, AEW World Tag Team Champions Ricky Starks and Big Bill will be tasked with taking on Dark Order’s John Silver and Alex Reynolds this Friday in an Eliminator match. If Dark Order wins, they automatically earn a title shot.
CMLL’s Místico, Máscara Dorada, Volador Jr. and Hechicero will also be in action when they take on the team of Angelo Parker, Matt Menard, Matt Sydal and Christopher Daniels. Plus, Willow Nightingale will battle Queen Aminata.
As previously announced, Private Party and Top Flight will square off in a rematch.
The results are as follows:
Match 1: Top Flight defeats Private Party via pinfall
Things ended relatively fast in the first match, with Private Party hitting the Silly String on Dante Martin late in the match, which Quen followed up with a shooting star press. After Darius broke up the pinfall, though, he dove out of the match to attack Kassidy, breaking up the group.
This allowed Dante to pretty much end things, and he did so by hitting Marq Quen with a huge move for the pin and win. After the match, Top Flight attempted to shake hands with Private Party, but they wouldn’t accept.
Backstage segment: Sammy Guevara
Guevara was interviewed by Renee Paquette, and said he’s now medically cleared to compete after Powerhouse Hobbs’ attack on him. Now, though, he’s going after Hobbs, but isn’t ready to set an exact match just yet.
Backstage segment: Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, etc.
Everyone is working out backstage, and Satnam Singh joked about Jay being a loser and not winning many recent matches. Jeff yelled to Jay that his problem with everyone is that they’re too nice, and they have to get back to being the ruthless S.O.B.’s they are.
Match 2: Big Bill & Ricky Starks defeat Dark Order via pinfall
Dark Order started off hot, but were unable to do much as the match went on. Toward the end of the match, Evil Uno tripped up Starks as he tried to get up and hit a spear on Reynolds, but Starks was able to rally. To end it, Starks got back in the ring after hitting a spear on Uno outside of the ring, then hit Silver with his finisher for the win.
Backstage segment: Powerhouse Hobbs
Hobbes and Don Callis are backstage, and Don is sick of Sammy Guevara already. He said Guevara may be medically cleared to wrestle, but he isn’t mentally cleared. Hobbes then said that he’s got three mouths back at home who depend on him, and that he isn’t worried in the slightest about Guevara’s threats.
Match 3: Willow Nightingale defeats Queen Aminata via pinfall
This one ended almost instantly, with Willow hitting a bit powerbomb on Aminata for the win after dominating for most of the match. After the match, Stokely Hathaway and Kris Statlander argued for a bit as they both tried to raise Willow’s hands, while Nightingale and Aminata shook it out.
Backstage segment: Orange Cassidy
Cassidy and the Best Friends were interviewed backstage and said they asked for this time because they know The Undisputed Kingdom will eventually interrupt them. On cue, the group did, and Adam Cole began taunting Chuck Taylor for being hurt. In the end, the groups set up a 3 v. 3 match for next week.
Backstage segment: The Outcasts and Harley Cameron
The duo interrupted a segment between Stokely, Nightingale, and Statlander backstage. Harley bit Stokely and then began mocking Willow, setting up a match for next week that will see Ruby Soho and Saraya take on Nightingale and Statlander.
Match 4: Hechicero, Mistico, Volador Jr. & Mascara Dorada defeat Daddy Magic, Matt Sydal, Christopher Daniels & Angelo Parker via pinfall
This one didn’t ever seem to be in trouble, as Hechicero and their group of four handled things from the start. Eventually, chaos broke out and brawls were happening all around the ring, but in the end Hechicero hit a big knee strike on Daniels, which let him roll him up for a quick win to end the night.
