It has now been officially announced that WWE star Mustafa Ali will challenge for the North American Championship at NXT Great American Bash 2023.
Ali issued a challenge to Wes Lee for the July 30 special on the July 4 edition of NXT TV.
The challenge came after Ali defeated Tyler Bate, and when celebrating his victory, got right into the camera and addressed the NXT North American Champion.
WWE has now confirmed that Wes Lee will defend his gold against Mustafa Ali at the upcoming event, sharing a new match graphic via the NXT Twitter account.

Mustafa Ali was left undrafted in the 2023 WWE Draft, meaning that he currently wrestles as a free agent who’s able to wrestle on any brand.
While he has appeared on NXT TV in recent weeks, as of writing, Ali’s WWE.com profile still indicates that he isn’t assigned to any brand.
An NXT Championship match will officially be determined on Tuesday’s (July 11) show, with Bron Breakker set to battle Ilja Dragunov in a #1 contender’s match.
The victor will face Carmelo Hayes for the NXT Title at the Great American Bash.
